Compare these against whatever you were given. Scammers clone real firm names and reference numbers but use their own phone number and website, so a detail that does not match the register is the clearest warning sign there is.

Past FCA permissions and consumer protection

  • The record is closed
Cover you already have generally survives the cancellation: FSCS exists for firms that have failed, and the Financial Ombudsman Service can look at a complaint about a firm that has stopped trading, as long as the business was done while it was authorised. New business with this firm has no cover at all, because it is no longer permitted to carry it out.

Name: Professional Liability Network Reference Number: 309817 Type of action: Cancellation    The Authority has cancelled the permission and withdrawn the authorisation of Professional Liability Network (“the Firm”) of The Old Hall, Strethall, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4XJ (principal place of business). The reason for this action is that the Firm is failing to satisfy the Suitability and Effective Supervision Threshold Conditions.   The Authority’s action took effect on 11 September 2026 and a copy of the Final Notice which sets out the reason for the action, is displayed on the Authority’s website and can be accessed using the following link:    https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/final-notices/professional-liability-network-2026.pdf   As a consequence of this action the Firm is no longer an authorised firm for the purposes of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (“the Act”), and it may not carry on regulated activities which fall within the scope of the Act.

The Financial Ombudsman Service only publishes complaint figures for firms with 30 or more new complaints in six months, so there are none here for this firm.
