Most people assume there are two ways to change their car: brave the forecourts, or sell privately and deal with the hassle yourself. VCL is a third way. We’re not a dealer with cars sat on a forecourt marking up the price; we search over 20,000 vehicles a week through trade-only channels to find the exact car you want, at the price the trade pays, then hand it to you fully checked. And if you’re selling, we do the legwork for you too: advert, viewings, negotiation, the lot. We’ve been doing this from our Boroughbridge base since 2006.

How VCL Works
It’s the same simple process whether you’re buying or selling, and there’s no obligation at any point until you’re happy.
1. Tell us what you want.
For buyers, that’s the make, model, age, mileage and budget you have in mind. For sellers, it’s your registration and a few details about the car’s condition. Either way, it costs nothing and there’s no commitment.
2. We do the searching (or the selling).
Buying: we search over 20,000 vehicles a week through trade-only remarketing channels that aren’t open to the public, and bring you the best options at trade price.
Selling: we write the advert, list your car and handle every enquiry, viewing and negotiation on your behalf.
3. We check it, and it’s yours (or sold).
Every car we source is Experian-checked and put through a full multi-point inspection before it’s valeted and delivered to your door, or you’re welcome to collect from Boroughbridge in person. On the selling side, once we’ve agreed a buyer, we handle the paperwork and get the money to you. Most cars sell within around four weeks.
Buying? Stop Paying the Forecourt’s Overheads
Every car on a dealer’s forecourt has been marked up to cover the showroom, the sales team and the finance desk, none of which makes your car any better. VCL removes that layer. We buy at trade price and charge one transparent finding fee, so you can see exactly what you’re saving before you commit to anything.
Typical savings run from £1,500 on a car up to £10,000, to £3,500 on cars over £30,000, and every car comes with an Experian check and a full mechanical inspection as standard.
Selling? Get More Than a Part-Exchange, Without the Private-Sale Hassle
Selling privately means fielding calls, hosting strangers for viewings and hoping the buyer doesn’t drop out. Part-exchanging is easier, but the dealer’s offer reflects what they’ll sell it for, not what it’s worth to you.
VCL’s Sale or Return service sits between the two. We list your car, handle every viewing and negotiation, and keep it covered under our own motor trade insurance the whole time; you just wait for the money to land. Most cars sell within about four weeks.
